Modern society relies on electricity to operate any equipment and electricians to manage the equipment and electrical systems. Whether you own a home or have a business in Seattle, hiring a professional electrician should be something to consider when you have questions regarding your electrical setup. But even if you know you should hire an electrician, there are several types of electricians: apprentice, journeyman, and master. We’re going to cover what a Master 01 Electrician is, and how they differ from the other skill levels.
Before an electrician becomes a Master-01 electrician, he or she must undergo ample training and education to learn the technical aspects and construction practices. Having a minimum age of 18, obtaining a high school diploma, and passing the aptitude and substance abuse tests are the requirements needed before even starting the learning process.
What is an apprentice electrician?
After meeting the minimum requirements, future electricians can begin training by attending apprenticeship programs that are normally run by either electrician trade unions or by the government. The program has a “learning by doing” approach where an apprentice electrician is supervised by a licensed electrician. Initially, an apprentice electrician would do basic tasks and such as installing new wires in existing systems, and performing basic troubleshooting, eventually, more complex tasks are given as the electrician acquires more knowledge and experience.
Trade schools are another approach for being an apprentice electrician and it focuses more on classroom setting. A minimum number of hours (usually determined by the state) is needed to complete this route.
What is a journeyman electrician?
Both the apprenticeship programs and trade schools are qualified to take the Journeyman electrician test. Typically, the title journeyman electricians require a 2-year degree or certificate in electrical courses or four years of intensive training supervised by a master electrician. Once an electrician passes his or her given tests, he or she is promoted as a Journeyman electrician. This means that an electrician can legally work in residential, commercial, industrial and utility settings, working either as an independent technician or contractor’s employee.
What is a master electrician?
Once a Journey electrician becomes highly experienced, he is now eligible to take the Master Electrician test but keep in mind that there may be state-specific requirements to accomplish. After passing the test, Master Electricians typically need to renew their licenses every two years, and continuing their education is required to maintain an active license.
